Description: The Ordeal of Gilbert Pinfold, A Conversation Piece by Evelyn Waugh. Published by Chapman & Hall, London, UK, 1957. Very good plus, first edition book in very good dust jacket. Dark blue glossy cloth covered boards with gilt lettering and graphic on spine. Upper external page edges are dark blue-tinted. Boards are clean; lettering on spine is a bit scuffed but still legible. Small bookseller's label on front paste-down. Residue in upper left corner of FFEP, perhaps from an old label or tag. Text pages are lightly age-toned, else internally clean and with snug text block. Back jacket panel shows shelf-wear soil, more obvious against the light background. Spine is lightly sunned. Creases on fore-edge folds and back spine edge; all folds are lightly scuffed but not rubbed through. Edge at head of jacket spine has several chips of up to 1/4". Upper edge of front jacket panel has a 1/4" closed vertical tear near the center; upper right corner on back jacket panel has a similar tear near to the spine. All fore-edge corners are rubbed with minimal loss of up to 1/8". Penciled writing on inside front flap near the lower edge. Not price clipped. Several photos provided for your inspection and in support of condition description. Please use close-up options.
