Description: Hilarious - eBay suggests I use AI to write the description of this. What would AI know about this thing? Well, to be honest, it might not know much less than I do. I am the third owner of this amazing item. I have about 30,000 sq. ft. worth of storage space full of interesting items and have been buying and selling rare and unique things for over 35 years - and I can honestly say that this might be THE most unique, rare, and impressive item I've ever owned. I wish I knew more about it or could discover more about it through research, but I can find almost no information on the Internet about it. Here is what I know (or what I've been told) about it. This is a custom built replica of the front portion of an AT-AT Walker from The Empire Strikes Back. It was built in the early 1980s for FAO Schwarz's three biggest stores. One was inside the Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, one was in another big store (I don't remember where), and this one was at FAO's flagship store in front of Central Park in New York City! I believe when assembled and installed, it stands about 25 feet tall! This replica consists of basically the head and neck / upper front portion of the body, as well as the front two legs and feet of an AT-AT Walker. It was designed to be mounted to the ceiling of a huge room (25 foot ceiling) to appear to be crashing through the building - as if the front legs and head crashed through the ceiling and it's about to wipe you and everyone around out. I wish I had a picture of how it looked in the front entrance of the FAO Schwarz. If someone out there has a picture, could you please message me and send me the picture? I would love to see it. This one has obviously been removed and disassembled for transport / reassembly. It comes apart in 6 large pieces. The biggest piece (which is massive) is the neck and upper front part of the body. This piece is currently stored on a rolling cart on its side, and stands over 7 feet tall and about 5 feet wide, not sure how deep - maybe 10 feet. It is extremely heavy. This piece is supposed to be attached to the ceiling. Then the next piece - the Walker's head - is to be mounted to it pointing slightly downward. Then there are two legs, which appear to be three segments joined at movable joints, each around 4 to 6 feet in length. Finally, there are two feet which you can see in the pictures. The feet are really cool looking. When assembled, I believe you can position the legs in whatever position you want, probably one of them straight up and down and the other bent with the foot at an angle like it's in the middle of taking a step. I'm told that the electronics inside (a motor, some lights, and some circuitry) are supposed to make the gun on the head slide alternatingly forward and back, just like in the movie. The lights are supposed to flash like it's shooting, and I'm told that it also makes the sound effects of laser cannons firing. Whether this one still works and does all of that I do not know. In fact I don't even know for certain that it still has all of the parts/circuitry to do all that. I think and am told that it does, but I can't guarantee that because I just don't know. But like I said above, even if it doesn't do all that, it is no less impressive just sitting stationary. (From what I was told), this particular unit was installed in the flagship store until they closed, or went bankrupt, or both. The boss (CEO?) had it removed from the store and had it delivered to his mansion in Ohio. That is where my friend purchased it from, sometime around 10 years ago give or take. My friend brought it to his arcade in Iowa where he intended to eventually install it as a great attraction. My friend is the biggest Star Wars nut I know personally, and this was absolutely the gem of his Star Wars collection, which was massive even without this piece. Well, my friend has some big life changing events take place, including some health issues, and I ended up purchasing his entire arcade including the building and all of the contents. Those contents included this awesome piece, which was actually one of the most exciting things in the whole deal. So the information in this listing is what I was told by my friend, recreated 18 months later from my mediocre memory. I've learned that I'm good at remembering the general gist of things but details do not remain in my memory for long. So anyway, I have taken a bunch of pictures of the individual parts of this where they are in my warehouse. Unfortunately, I'm so full at the moment as I wait for them to pour the concrete for the floor in my new building that I can't get to all the parts very easily. That should become easier in about a month. I wanted to get this thing listed and available just in case someone is interested enough to buy it are at least begin discussions about buying it. But if you need better photos or more details than I've provided, just let me know what you need to see and I will do my best to get you what you need to make a decision. I did take a couple of movies as I unloaded the two biggest pieces, and here are links to them. This should provide a lot of additional views of this thing. It probably doesn't look as big in the movies or pictures as it is in real life because I had to use the 0.6 lens on my camera to shrink it to fit in the pictures.
