Description: This is for an original 1969 N.B.A.P. Member card of forward Don “Cochise” Kojis. Kojis would play for 6 different teams in his 12 year career. It seemed that every year the league expanded Kojis would be packing his bags for another city. Not many fans of todays game saw Don play but he is certainly remembered by his cards with the San Diego Rockets, Seattle Supersonics and Kansas City-Omaha Kings. In fact, Kojis is one of only three players ever drafted in consecutive years in the expansion draft (the other 2 being George Wilson and Bob Weiss) along with being one of a handful who would play for 3 expansion teams the Packers, Bulls and Rockets. The jury is still out on where the cards came from as there is proof that many were cut off of a basketball box while others are rumored to be cut off of Converse sneaker shoe boxes. Either way they are super rare. Since the cards show no NBA logos or even uniform numbers it is believed that they are an unsanctioned issue. There are only 20 cards in the set and are so rare that even terribly cut and heavily creased cards command premiums. This card hasn’t been graded but PSA has only graded 4 Kojis cards from this set (with the highest graded example being a PSA 2) while SGC has only graded 1 example.) The card is drop dead gorgeous but does have two creases in it, one at the very top right hand corner and the other being a 1 ½ light crease angled upward from the right hand side. With only four known to exist, how much rarer could you ask for? Check out the scans and email with any questions.
