Description: Past Patterns PP#0112Edwardian Era Spectator Jacket Sewing Patterns This 1900s Spectator Jacket sewing pattern is a Past Patterns original design ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The princess cut of this Specator Jacket makes fitting all figure types easy and quick. The original was all machine sewn including the pad stitching in the collar. The fly front closure allows you to use any flat buttons in your collection. The tailored look is emphasized by top stitching the collar, princess seams and cuffs. The jacket is fully lined. You can achieve a true pigeon breast with the padding that smooths the line between the shoulder and bust line. The sleeves are not merely gathered, they are cartridge pleated. This gives them an interesting shape. According to the author of History of 20th Century Fashion, it was the tailored jacket which gave rise to the delicate lingerie blouse. We do this with the hope that people will start creating and wearing reproductions instead of antique originals. The clothes we wear and that our grandparents wore are part of our cultural history. Just as you would not abuse antiques furniture by cutting off decorative trim, so you should not abuse antique garments by wearing them. Our second goal is that you pick up a little bit of history when you sew the garment. The fit, the cut, the fasteners, the fabric design, just to mention a few things, are part to the technology of the time. Our third goal, in sewing the patterns, is to spark an interest in genealogy and local history. Researching local history is always a rewarding pursuit. SKU 0113-20 Thanks for looking!
