Description: A large antique Japanese Imari charger ( plate ). Japan, Meiji period, circa 1880. This is a very large and impressive antique Japanese Imari plate. Very unusual decor. ALL hand painted in polychrome enamel, in blue cobalt, red , green , orange, white and gold gilding. 3 different medallion : one in a form of a vase, one as a flower and one like a sun with birds. With blue and red symbols ( drawings ) at the back, as pictured ( see photo ). The gold gilding highlights decoration, gives more elegance and luxury to the work. Dimensions : Diameter : 18 inches ( 46 cm ) H : 2.25 inches ( 6 cm ) Weight : 7 lbs 3 oz ( 3.3 kgs ) The heavy weight reflects the thickness of the porcelain and authenticity of the piece.
