Description: This is a rare 1905 edition of St. Nicholas Magazine, featuring the first publication of "Queen Zixi of Ix" by L. Frank Baum in serial form before it was issued as a standalone title. At the end of each year, St. Nicholas would compile the issues and republish as anthology hardcovers. These are those editions for Volume XXXII, Nov 1904 - Oct 1905. Part One has several condition issues - water staining to the back cover, back gutter separation, missing back endpapers, some loose or separating pages but the book is otherwise complete and all Zixi pages are intact and clean with illustrations included. Part Two is in much cleaner and tighter shape (I would rate “fine”) but pages 593 - 600 are loose (1st chapter of Zixi in v. 2), though included and complete. All text pages are complete and all illustrations are in excellent condition. Both books are good candidates for restoration or conservation. Please review the pictures carefully and I hope you’ll enjoy adding these rare volumes to your collection.
