The Vector knife was originally developed by specialists from the Kizlyar Supreme plant for a wide range of users, including law enforcement agencies. It is based on traditional Soviet combat knives, such as the Vacha “Trud” knife, HP-40, HP-43 “Cherry”. If our grandfathers had picked up Vector, they would undoubtedly have said: “this is Finnish.” However, if the roots of the knife are domestic and go back to the period of the Great Patriotic War, then it is embodied in the latest materials and in compliance with modern army standards. Over the past time, the requirements for such knives have grown significantly, so the developers faced a serious task. Let's start with the blade. Its length is 160 mm, which will cover with a margin any tasks that may fall to this knife. Vector can easily cope with the tasks of a hunter (harvesting and butchering an animal), with tourist operations (planing and preparing wood chips for kindling, preparing branches for bedding, with a field kitchen and cutting food). The Vector was designed specifically for the widest possible range of tasks, with the expectation that it could be the only one on a long field trip and that absolutely everything would have to be done with this knife. The thickness of the Vector blade is about 5.7 mm. This simultaneously allows it to be certified as a household knife, but also gives the blade a huge margin of safety for power work. The tip of the knife is also very thick and durable. To compensate for the thick spine, the knife is equipped with very wide slopes, which make up more than 4/5 of the blade; the slopes are concave. Such wide bevels with a relatively thin blade give the knife an excellent, controlled cut without any compromise. So the mention of the field kitchen was by no means just for the sake of words - this functionality was also thought out in Vector. The blade width is 22.5 mm, which provides the knife with solid penetrating ability and also makes it even more functional, but we’ll talk about this later. The blade is made of excellent Japanese corrosion-resistant steel AUS-8, hardened to a hardness of 58-59 HRC. It is very fracture resistant, easy to sharpen and requires minimal maintenance. The knife is assembled according to the principle of through installation, that is, the thick shank passes through the handle and comes out at the heel of the blade as a glass breaker (aka a plane with which you can strike, for example, knock out a nail). The handle is made of tenacious kraton. This is a special type of rubber-plastic that is resistant to abrasion, temperature and moisture. The handle does not absorb anything, remains grippy even when wet, is easy to clean and does not harden from frost. Horizontal textured stripes on it, like on the HP-43 Cherry, and a barrel-shaped shape provide an even more confident grip. The fingers are protected in front by a powerful steel guard. Its slight bend allows you to grip the knife as comfortably as possible. In the rear part, the handle fungus protects the fingers from slipping. The knife is equipped with a hole for a lanyard. The sheath is a source of special pride for the manufacturer. They are so compact that they easily fit into the MOLLE mount (this is where the narrow Vector blade comes into its own). Special loops allow you to firmly fix the sheath on unloading using a special steel clip or simple paracord. A special lock, known to many from the Tactical Echelon line from Kizlyar Supreme, tightly holds the knife in the guard area and allows you to carry the knife upside down even without additional fastenings. For wearing on a belt, there is a quick-detachable suspension that will fit any belt width. There are two options for carrying a knife: loosely slung with the overlapping strap unfastened, and rigidly with the strap fastened. You choose the option yourself depending on the task. For example, in the forest, in the bushes, it is preferable to carry it rigidly, so the knife will not cling to anything. And when getting into a car, the overlap can be unfastened, and the knife will take the most comfortable position on a free suspension. The low rise allows you to comfortably wear the knife with long winter clothes. The sheath is symmetrical, allowing you to insert the knife on either side, so the Vector is equally suitable for both right-handed and left-handed people.
