Description: This is a Japanese Edo era netsuke and inro made of kiri (paulownia) wood. it has a uniform ocatonal shape with two parts and a matcing manju style netsuke. All pieces have been painted with a black lacquer. It appers that there was a carved or appliied artwork on both sides with one side having the famous hollyhock family crest used by the Tokugawa family that ruled Japan as Shoguns for over two cenuries.Inro measures 2 3/4" tall by2 3/4" wide and 1 1/2" thick (7 x 7 x 4 cm). Overall it remains in very good condition.
