Description: Original era manufacture. Box of 10 Dummy 50 M2 Cartridges, Frankford Arsenal. Some are head stamped FA 4 (1944), some stamped 43. The box has been opened, otherwise unused. Beginning in 1941/1942, the US realized that they were going to have a serious copper shortage thanks to war demand, so they started experiments on switching production of 30 and 50 caliber ammo to steel cases (copper being the major component of brass). In 50 cal, Frankford Arsenal did the majority of this work, with most experiments aimed at preventing rust and corrosion. They achieved the best results with something called “Zinc-Cronak” plating, which is what the dummy rounds are coated with. Have seen listed elsewhere for 14.00 a round This sale is for ONE box of ten rounds. I have 3 full boxes and 10 rounds without box available if interested in buying as a lot.
