The amount you pay upfront covers the cost of a detailed estimate and shipping the camera back to you. The average cost of a full CLA including 1 YEAR warranty is $150. If you choose only necessary work it will cost less than that. The parts will cost extra but they rarely need to be replaced. If your camera is in a decent condition it should cost around $150 to have it fully serviced (please check below what the full CLA includes). Canonet 28 usually require less work so it will be cheaper to service (about $80).If you resell your camera, the warranty transfers to the new owner. Please read the terms at the bottom of this page. I don't hesitate to offer a full year warranty because I specialize in Canonet repair. In the last 20 years I serviced nearly 1000 of them and had less than 1% of warranty repairs. After the camera is fully CLA'd it should run for about 15 years before it will need another service. Most of the cameras I'm getting from my customers were recently serviced by other shops or were sold here on eBay as "refurbished" with no warranty. Many of them are victims of YouTube repair tutorials. They often have chipped lens, damaged thread and fibers inside the shutter. If you're planning to fix your Canonet yourself, please reconsider. Cleaning the shutter blades with Q-tips and alcohol is not effective and most likely will cause additional problems. I charge only $50 for shutter service and I clean the entire shutter, not just the blades. I understand how important cosmetic condition is. I work on a soft and clean surface so your camera will come back without additional scratches. My goal is to refurbish your camera close to brand new condition. The CLA (Cleaning Lubrication Adjustment) includes:- Shutter Service - Internal lens cleaning from a haze and dust (if there's a light fungus that is not spread through the glass elements I'll clean it as well. Fungus may leave blemishes).- New light seals replacement and film chamber cleaning.- Rangefinder cleaning and alignment- Light meter conversion to 1.5v battery- Cleaning and lubrication of mechanism and dials. If your camera has damage like a cracked viewfinder window, dented lens rim, badly rusted battery chamber, dead light meter etc. the parts may have to be replaced for an extra cost (I had to pay for them too).My current turnaround time is approx. 10 days. It doesn't cover any damage caused by the user or improper storage, like a water damage, sand, fungus or physical damage. It doesn't cover battery replacement.
