Armanen Runes Necklace, Guido von List 18 Futharkh Younger Futhark Charm Pendant

Description: INCLUDES Pendant and necklace chain in a black velvet jewelry bag. You can also choose just the pendant alone, to use on your own cord or chain. MEASUREMENTS The pendant measures approximately 25mm x 1.8mm (about .984" across by .071" inches thick). The necklace chain is offered in your choice of length from 16" to 36" (40cm to 91cm) MATERIALS The charm is an antiqued silver zinc alloy casting. The chain and all its components are made with hypo-allergenic Stainless steel. ABOUT This pendant is based on the "Armanen Futhark" which is not a traditional 'viking age' rune set, but a simplified and refined set designed by the German mystic Guido von List in the late 1800s. There are only 18 runes in this system, rather than the 24 or more found in older rune systems. Guido von List claimed that these were the original 18 runes discovered by Odin and then handed down to the Norse people as spells of power and wisdom in the 'Havamal' chapter of the Elder (or Poetic) Edda. Like other rune sets, the Armanen runes are not simply an alphabet. They are a set of magickal symbols with powerful multiple layers of meaning, and can be used in a number of ways (contrary to a lot of the pop-psychic garbage out there, they have many other uses BESIDES divination/fortune telling - though as divination tools they are far more effective and personal that Tarot or most of astrology). They are ultimately meant to be tools of power and success. You can use these runes for any purpose, however beware of using them for any negative/cursed purposes. These are the most powerful of all the Norse rune sets. Using them to cast harmful spells violates the original purpose of the runes as per Odin's account in the Havamal. They can be used in divination (with rune pebbles, or by spinning the talisman) or for incantations, exorcisms, Blots, or simply for concentrating one's energies on the vibration of the runes most suited to your current objectives in life. All 18 have important purposes in life. You don't have to be an Odinist, Pagan, Asatru` or even an occult expert to use them. Just test them out. Odin was a very wise human who discovered some important esoteric truths in these symbols, it is not necessary to worship him as a god to use these runes. The Armanen runes are as follows (they go in counterclockwise order), and are meant to empower you to control and positively influence the following things: Fa (wealth), Ur (healing), Thorn/Thor (strength), Os (charisma), Rit (justice), Kaun (art/genius), Hagal (protection, nurture), Not (fate/karma), Is (ego/will), Ar (fame/adventure), Sig (success/victory), Tyr (rebirth/revival), Bar (birth/safety), Laf (experience), Man (dominance), Yr (seduction), Eh (love/trust), Gibor (higher consciousness - the most difficult rune to master). All the runes have their own unique applications. The karma is rumored to be pretty intense on the six corner runes, so it's wise to refrain for using these casually for dark purposes. They have other meanings besides these as well. The Yr rune tends to bring you in contact with tall blond nordic-type women. But that's after just the first day of use so there may be a lot more mysteries to it still to be discovered. +x+ x+x +x+ x+x +x+ x+x +x+ x+x +x+ x+x +x+ x+x +x+ x+x +x+ x+x The Armanen runes (or Armanen Futharkh) are a series of 18 runes, closely based on the historical Younger Futhark, introduced by Austrian mysticist and Germanic revivalist Guido von List in his Das Geheimnis der Runen (English: "The Secret of the Runes"), published as a periodical article in 1906, and as a standalone publication in 1908. The name Armanen runes associates the runes with the postulated Armanen, whom von List saw as ancient Aryan priest-kings. The Armanen runes continue in use today in esotericism and in currents of Germanic neopaganism. Von List claimed they were revealed to him while in an 11-month state of temporary blindness after a cataract operation on both eyes in 1902. This vision in 1902 allegedly opened what List referred to as his "inner eye", via which the "Secret of the Runes" was revealed to him. List stated that his Armanen Futharkh were encrypted in the Rúnatal of the Poetic Edda (stanzas 138 to 165 of the Hávamál), with stanzas 147 through 165, where Odin enumerates eighteen wisdoms (with 164 being an interpolation), interpreted as being the "song of the 18 runes". List and many of his followers believed his runes to represent the "primal runes" upon which all historical rune rows were based. List's row is based on the Younger Futhark, with the names and sound values mostly close to the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc. The two final runes, Eh and Gibor, added to the Younger Futhark inventory, are taken from Anglo-Saxon Eoh and Gyfu. Apart from the two additional runes, and a displacement of the Man rune from 13th to 15th place, the sequence is identical to that of the Younger Futhark. List noted in his book, The Secret of the Runes, that the "runic futharkh (runic ABC) consisted of sixteen symbols in ancient times." He also referred to the Armanen runes as the 'Armanen Futharkh' of which Stephen E. Flowers notes in his 1988 English translation of Lists 1907/08 'Das Geheimnis der Runen', that "The designation “futharkh” is based on the first seven runes, namely F U T A R K H (or H) it is for this reason that the proper name is not futhark - as it is generally and incorrectly written – but rather “futharkh”, with the “h” at the end. The first sixteen of von List's runes correspond to the sixteen Younger Futhark runes, with slight modifications in names (and partly mirrored shapes). The two additional runes are loosely inspired by the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc. Fa (an inverted Fe) - F Ur - U Thurs (as Anglo-Saxon Thorn) (also known as 'Dorn') - Th Os (a mirrored Younger Futhark As/Oss) - A(O). In Armanic writings, the Othala rune is generally seen as a variation / extension of Os. Rit (as Reidh) - R Ka (as in Younger Futhark) - K Hagal/Hag (as Younger Futhark Hagall) - H Nauth/Not (as Younger Futhark Naud) - N Is (as in Younger Futhark) - I Ar (similar to short-twig Younger Futhark) - A Sig/Sol (as Anglo-Saxon Sigel) - S Tyr - T Bar (as Younger Futhark Bjarkan) - B Laf (as Younger Futhark Logr) - L Man (as Younger Futhark Madr); - M Yr (as in Younger Futhark, but with a sound value [i]) - Y Eh (the name is from Anglo-Saxon Futhork, the shape like Younger Futhark Ar) - E Gibor/Ge/Gi (the name similar to Anglo-Saxon Futhork Gyfu) - G There is no historical Gibor rune (the name may be based on the Anglo-Saxon Gyfu rune). List associated his Gibor rune with the final stanza of the Rúnatal (stanza 165 of the Hávamál, trans. H. A. Bellows): An eighteenth I know, / that ne'er will I tell To maiden or wife of man, The best is what none / but one's self doth know
