Description: Description This amazing fireplace mantel was salvaged from a Baltimore Victorian.It is made of cherry with a very dark stain or a coat of dark paint.The lip of the shelf has incised lines, the face has repeating carved flowers and there are dozens of carved drop finials below.The shelf is supported by full length carved griffins that sit on round carved bases.They have open mouths, emblems on the chests, lion paw feet and amazing carved wings. The curved breast has Eastlake spoon carved designs from end to end. Measurements are 70.25 inches wide,48 tall and 16 deep. The firebox opening is 42 inches wide by 35.5 tall.Overall, it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning. There are marks on the shelf. Trips to NYC and New England are as needed. We can personally deliver if you are somewhat close to these routes much cheaper than freight or uship.
