The setting is a handcrafted solid 14k yellow gold twisted "leaf and vine" mounting by fine NY jewelry designer Angela Conty. I enjoyed researching this designer, and finding her breathtaking organic nature-inspired jewelry pieces, all handmade and one-of-a-kind. Here is some information from her website, about the artist, in case you are curious about her. If you like unique jewelry pieces and love cameos, you will need to take a second look at this one. "Angela’s jewelry roots trace back more than 40 years to undergraduate and graduate work in Art at SUNY New Paltz. Her works, exploring design and fabrication in the jewelry and lapidary arts, have been nationally and internationally exhibited and collected. As an Italian-born American, Angela expresses influences of both cultures in her work. Her designs have been featured in several magazine and book publications, including Oppi Untracht‘s Jewelry, Concepts and Technologies , Renée Newman’s Pearl Buying Guide, Fred Ward’s Phenomenal Gems, and a JCK cover. And an Oscar presenter wore one of Angela’s necklace and earring set at the Academy Awards. All pieces begin and end with her interaction with the natural world." But back to the cameo. We took it to our well-respected GIA diamond and gemstone insurance appraiser for evaluation. The appraisal (for $5745) is photographed here. The cameo is a natural blue agate cameo possibly hand-carved in Germany which Conty used as the focal point of this brooch-pendant. The cameo is super nice quality--a young woman with amazing detail in her hair and dress--and a bird on her shoulder. She is set in an organic leaf and vine gold mounting, with .35 ctw in full-cut round diamonds (G/H, VS clarity) interspersed within the gold vines. The underside continues the vine design, and one of the vines actually becomes the bail while the others, like tendrils, act as prongs to secure the cameo (see back of piece). I have shown it on a chain in the photos for size reference. CHAIN IS NOT INCLUDED. This gorgeous blue agate handcarved cameo pin pendant is signed "Conty 14k" and it is a one-of-a-kind.
