Proudly handmade, hand-welted by one of the best bootmakers in the world, Midas bootmaker, same owner as Winson shoemaker who also made my wedding shoes. Made in Indonesia where they are putting out some of the best custom shoes in the world. Leather is from the famous Shinki tannery in Japan renowned for Cordovan. Their cordovan in natural finish has developed a beautiful caramel patina with great depth and finish. These are on their original soles, never been resoled and I am the original buyer. Edlyn last (This is Midas' service boot last. Round toe). Leather midsole. Vibram cushion full sole, extremely comfortable on hard surfaces as a work boot. Rugged Norwegian welt adds good balance and visual interest with dense stitching.Tongue is not gusseted, it's beautifully lined (same style as the tongue of Alden boots). Regularly brushed with horsehair, and routinely treated with Saphir cordovan cream to keep properly hydrated without adding pigment or color. This is generous in the toe box and ball of the foot. I measure an 8D and I wear these with my thickest socks. Feels like an 8E or 8.5D. Specifically ordered as 8D, the last is just more spacious.
