Joyce Gill was a life-long friend of Evelyn Waugh. Joyce and Evelyn had a passionate affair during the annulment of Evelyn’s first marriage to ‘She-Evelyn’. CONDITION In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart, with some light marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light spots to the fore edge. Gift inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Dust wrapper is edge worn, with small closed tears, and a couple of chips to the head of the front wrap, one larger chip to the fore edge. Light spots and age-toning to the dust wrapper. Spots to the reverse of the dust wrapper, with small damp stains to the reverse to the head. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots to the first and last few pages.
