Description: Very rare original 1876 copy of Maria Hildreth Parker's, "Poems and Stories." The book is overall in very good condition with some minor signs of wear and age. It is inscribed & signed by Parker on the front blank flyleaf. The book was self published and as issued, no full title page was ever bound in. Instead, the half title serves as the title page. The covers only have some minor wear. The binding is good and sound. All of the page edges are gilt. The interior is lightly toned from age with some scattered light foxing. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a creased page corner, tiny chip or tear, minor stain, etc. Generally though, it's a very nice copy. The book measures approximately 9 7/8 inches by 7 inches and is 223 pages long with a black and white frontispiece. It contains a collection of Maria Hildreth Parker's poetry and prose which includes subjects on Womens' Suffrage, New Orleans, Love, Death, General Butler, Mystic Island, etc. Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition.
